With the entire world watching, Prince William and Catherine Middleton became husband and wife Friday morning – and the newly ennobled Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – at London's Westminster Abbey.

The wedding, pegged the greatest and grandest royal affair since Prince Charles and Princess Diana's 1981 nuptials, is the fairy-tale ending to a love story thrust into the spotlight last November when the couple first announced their engagement.

"I, William Arthur Philip Louis, take thee, Catherine Elizabeth, to my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse," William vowed. "For richer, for poorer. In sickness and in health. To love and to cherish, till death us do part."

With brother and best man Prince Harry, sporting the uniform of Captain of the Household Cavalry, by his side, William, 28, wearing the scarlet uniform of the Colonel of the Irish Guards, slipped a traditional Welsh gold wedding band on Middleton's finger, saying, "With this ring, I thee wed."

The couple also wrote their own prayer for the occasion. "God our Father, we thank you for our families; for the love that we share and for the joy of our marriage," they said. "In the busyness of each day keep our eyes fixed on what is real and important in life and help us to be generous with our time and love and energy. Strengthened by our union help us to serve and comfort those who suffer."

A Royal Affair

With rows of trees lining the aisle of Westminster Abbey, music selected by the couple performed by the London Chamber Orchestra and a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress – the best-kept secret of the event – on the bride, no detail was too small for Friday's ceremony.

Middleton, 29, arrived to the Abbey in burgundy-and-black-colored Rolls-Royce, not a carriage, opting for a "lower-key arrival," a palace source told PEOPLE in February.

Guests such as Elton John and Victoria and David Beckham, just a few of the A-listers among the 1,900 who received an invitation, sat in chairs faced inward toward the aisle as Middleton walked toward her prince during the hour-long ceremony.


Afterward, Queen Elizabeth was set to host a post-wedding breakfast of champagne and canapés at Buckingham Palace for 600 guests. At 7 p.m., Prince Charles will throw a dinner dance for about 300 guests in another one of the palace's state rooms.

Before the wedding, the bride spent her last night as a single woman in the Royal Suite of the Goring Hotel, a stone's throw from Buckingham Palace. William, meanwhile, stayed with his father and brother at the Clarence House.

Still, their true fairy-tale moment is yet to come: The couple are expected to arrive on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at 1:25 p.m. for a much-anticipated kiss – in the very same spot Prince Charles and Princess Diana famously kissed 30 years ago.

They got ready together on their wedding day, sipped champagne and jammed to Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back" before their 35 guests arrived for their surprise nuptials Friday night.

But to keep a hint of mystery, Rimes slipped away to another room when the time came to put on her wedding dress – a handmade Reem Acra gown accessorized with sparkling jewelry.

"I was just in awe," Ermenegildo Zegna- clad Cibrian, 37, tells PEOPLE of seeing Rimes in her dress for the first time.

What’s round and cute and shiny all over? Jake Gyllenhaal‘s head!

The actor, who usually flaunts quite a head of hair, was recently spotted on the Los Angeles set of his new film, End of Watch, with a totally shaved head. His rep tells PEOPLE that he did indeed lose his locks for the role, in which he and The Lincoln Lawyer‘s Michael Peña play devoted cops.

This isn’t the first time Gyllenhaal has shaved his head for a film — he did the same for 2005′s Jarhead — but considering we saw him earlier this month with all of his hair (not to mention a full mustache and beard), it certainly was a quick change. We think the actor looks cute no matter what, but we want to know what you think.

Former Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari got one sweet surprise while on vacation in Mexico with her NFL beau Jay Cutler.



A source close to the couple confirms to PEOPLE that Cutler proposed over the weekend during their getaway in Cabo San Lucas.

"He surprised her with a quick trip to Cabo to ask her to marry him," the source says.

Cavallari, 24, who also appeared on The Hills, and Cutler, 27, the quarterback for the Chicago Bears, have been dating since last fall.

"I'm in love," she told PEOPLE earlier this year, "and it's been great."

Lindsay Lohan Back on for Gotti Movie

Well, that was fast.

Just a few hours after the producer of Gotti: Three Generations said that Lindsay Lohan was "no longer being considered" for a role in the film, he's changed his mind.

"She was definitely out as of earlier today, but she really wanted the part," Marc Fiore tells PEOPLE.

In fact, you could say Lohan made Fiore an offer he couldn't refuse.

"She not only is back in the movie, but she single-handedly put it all together," says the producer. "She called me personally and put her team on it and we came to an agreement."

He added that Lohan, 24, was "no nonsense," when it came to making the deal happen. "She played a real leadership role."

But Lohan will not play Victoria Gotti as had originally been reported. Instead, she will play Kim Gotti, the wife of John Gotti Jr., in the flick, which stars John Travolta.

Fiore calls the Kim character "a very important role" and says Lohan is "very excited about the part."

Fiore says Lohan is in for a two picture deal, which also includes his other mafia movie, Mob Street, in which she will play the wife of the lead character Bobby Bataglia.

Tim Robbins's Mother Dies Just 12 Days After His Father

Tim Robbins has suffered double heartache, as his mother Mary died on Sunday at age 78, just 12 days after his father Gil passed away at 80.

Husband and wife both died at their home in Esteban Cantu, Mexico. Mary Robbins died of a heart arrhythmia, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Gil died April 5 of prostate cancer, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Gil and Mary, who were married 59 years, had both been professional musicians in the 1950s and '60s – Gil having been a member of the folk band the Highwaymen.

Mary had once treated herself holistically to beat colon cancer, reports the Associated Press, which quoted her actor son Tim as saying she "had a calm and cheerful demeanor, a sharp wit, a gentle spirit and a generous and loving heart."

Of his father, Robbins told the L.A. Times: "He was very charming, open and funny. He had a real strong moral center; he spoke up for what he believed in."
