Before director David Cronenberg's new movie about a young, rich financier, Cosmopolis, was unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival, its star, Robert Pattinson, did a little revelation of his own – though, apparently, not as much as his director had requested.

In an interview for Metro France that quickly got picked up around the festival, the Twilight star, 26, was quoted as saying, "Five minutes before we filmed, David told me, 'I want to see the bottom of your balls on the top of the frame.' At the moment, I reminded myself that I would do anything for him. So I went back to see him and told him that wouldn't happen."

And how did the filmmaker of The Fly, Scanner, Eastern Promises and A Dangerous Method react to his leading man's decision?

"He took it really well," Pattinson is quoted as saying. "At the start, it's a very bizarre scene that you won't see again in another movie, I promise."

As it was, the actor admitted at the press conference after the Cannes screening that he was already anxious about making the sexy and (at-times) violent movie – to the point that he wasn't sure he could pull off the role.

"I spent two weeks in a hotel room worrying and confusing myself," Pattinson said.

The London-born-and bred heartthrob also said he disagreed with some critics who found the movie, based on the novel by Don DeLillo and set for the most part in a limo while Pattinson's character tries to go get a haircut, to be about the end of the world.

"I think it's a very hopeful movie," he countered. "Maybe I'm just a depressive, but I think the world needs to be washed and cleaned every once in a while."

Meanwhile, Pattinson and his real-life girlfriend, Kristen Stewart, who both have films in festival competition, arrived in Cannes this week and have been seen sneaking kisses on the Croisette.

Wednesday night, Pattinson attended the red-carpet premiere of Stewart's film, On the Road, while she is as expected to accompany him at Friday night's official screening of Cosmopolis.

Jerrod Niemann Survives Tour Bus Explosion

Jerrod Niemann Survives Tour Bus Explosion

Country musician Jerrod Niemann had a brush with death on Tuesday night.

The "Lover, Lover" singer, 32, performed at the Heart Strings for Hope benefit in Chattanooga, Tenn. where he and other stars raised $65,000 for charity on Tuesday night. But the drama happened after the show.

The singer, his band mates, father and uncle had to evacuate Niemann's tour bus after his pal, country singer Lee Brice, warned them that they'd better get out.

"I smelled something when I got on the bus but I figured it was that smell a heater makes when it comes on," Niemann tells PEOPLE. "Jon Stone, a songwriter who was with us because he wrote Lee Brice's new song, said, 'Dude, I think your bus is on fire.' "

I said, 'No, that's the heater.' But he had been on Lee's bus when it caught on fire just recently, so he was pretty adamant. He and Lee went outside and Lee came back on and said, 'No dude, this bus is on fire! You need to get your stuff and get off now!' "

Indeed, the bus was on fire. Niemann posted a photo on Twitter of himself, Brice and a friend with the blazing bus in the background.

"We could see the fire moving up from the back corner of the bus, under the bus, and we were backing up, then the windshield blew out with a piece of blind stuck to it," he says of those scary moments. "All the pressure built up and blew it out."

In the end, Niemann says he's happy to be alive.

"I'm just grateful to Jon and Lee for recognizing it, and so thankful that we weren’t parked somewhere sleeping because we may not have smelled the smoke at all until it was too late," he says. "It happened so fast we didn't have time to get scared, but we were pretty shook up after."

As for the bus, he'd only just started using it to see if he wanted to lease it for his tour.

"It used to belong to LeAnn Rimes and it was pretty luxe!" he says. "I'm glad I got to ride in it for one night at least."

Jessica Simpson vs. Demi Moore – the Bare-Belly Covers

Demi Moore made a bold move in 1991 when she posed naked on the cover of Vanity Fair while seven months pregnant with her second daughter Scout.

The accompanying story, titled "More Demi Moore," sparked controversy, and even led to numerous parodies.

More than two decades (and multitudes of other nude cover subjects) later, a pregnant Jessica Simpson channels Moore's infamous Annie Leibovitz-shoot for Elle magazine's April issue, as she carries her and fiancé Eric Johnson's first child.

She, too, is expecting a girl, she tells Elle in the interview. And she later Tweeted about the cover, writing on Wednesday, "My Elle cover comes out today!! I'm a lil nervous but I've never felt more beautiful or empowered. I hope you like it!!!"

Jessica Simpson has made billions from her eponymous fashion line, and she tells ELLE that she’s hoping her little one — a girl! — will be similarly style-conscious.
“I swear, I will croak if she asks me for a pair of Nikes instead of Christian Louboutins!” the Fashion Star mentor, 31, says of the baby she’s expecting this spring with fiancĂ© Eric Johnson.
“Eric is so athletic — we’re gonna have this athletic girl and I won’t even be able to take her shopping, ’cause all she’s gonna want is sports bras and Nikes!”
But while the baby’s personality has yet to be seen, one point is already decided: her “nontraditional” name.

“We’re sure,” Simpson explains in the magazine‘s April issue, for which she posed nude.
“It’s nothing shocking and nothing you’ll have to add to the dictionary. Still, when people hear it, they’ll know … why.”

Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert Are Talking Babies

Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert Are Talking Babies | Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert
With their first wedding anniversary on the horizon, Blake Shelton says that there isn't anything he would change about being married to Miranda Lambert.

"It's just so easy with her; we have so much fun being natural," Shelton, 35, told PEOPLE at Cosmopolitan magazine's Fun Fearless Awards 2012 Monday night. "We are more concerned with how to protect what's going on now than things we need to change."

Now that the couple has settled into married life, everyone can't help but wonder when the king and queen of country music will have an heir to the throne – including the newlyweds themselves.

"We just spent a week together in Oklahoma and we actually talked about that. I think we both agreed that we're a couple of years away from seriously talking about that," he told reporters.

"There is a lot [career wise] that is happening right now and it only happens once," continued Shelton. "We want to enjoy this and be able to focus on our careers so when it is time we'll be ready to sit around and watch that happen."

And just what kind of mom does The Voice coach think Lambert, 28, would be?

"If she's anything with an actual human being like she is with the dogs, the kid's going to be golden."

The Bachelor Contestants React to Courtney Robertson's Apology

The Bachelor Contestants React to Courtney Robertson's Apology

The reunited contestants of The Bachelor had no reason to suspect that their nemesis Courtney Robertson would be joining them for a candid chat at the Women Tell All special, because the finalists don't usually attend. But after dissecting her actions, calling her names and generally hating on her for 45 minutes, host Chris Harrison surprised them by bringing Courtney out to face the women.

Reactions to the model's weepy apology that followed were varied. After the taping, PEOPLE spoke with Kacie B., Blakeley, Casey S., Nicki and Bachelor Ben Flajnik about what Courtney said through tears:

Kacie B.: "[Courtney] will definitely not be a bridesmaid at my wedding. Can you imagine that toast? Not a flower girl. Courtney won't even be invited to my wedding. ... I hope she was being completely genuine in all that she said, but ... I have a hard time believing that somebody could act that way for so long [without] some sort of motive and not be a mean-spirited person."

Blakeley: "She said sorry. Whether she meant it or not is the question. I want to believe her. However, it is really hard to backtrack when you've gone so far and dug a hole so deep. I would be willing to open the door to the opportunity to see if we were compatible as friends. I would potentially like to see a friendship with her so that's why I cared enough to want an explanation and an apology."

Casey S.: "I was happy to see her. After hearing what everyone had to say, it seem the girls' feelings about Courtney have gotten a lot worse than they were in the house. Watching her on TV ... riled them all up. They think she only has a mean side because most didn't get to know her. That's not true. She is a great friend and funny."

Nicki: "I just don't buy it. If they're together, I don't see it lasting. Just watching the show and seeing her actions and comments would be enough to break them up. I don't really buy anything about her including the apologies or the tears. I think she showed up tonight because she looks bad to the viewers, to us and to Ben."

Ben Flajnik: "When I walked out there, I could tell something had riled the girls up. She said some mean things and that's not cool, but she is actually a sweet girl. Nobody gets to see [that] because of editing and stuff, which is sad. Unfortunately, I don't think this will be something that gets resolved. I don't see a world where all of these girls hang out together and get along. Too much has happened and too many feelings were hurt."
