With the entire world watching, Prince William and Catherine Middleton became husband and wife Friday morning – and the newly ennobled Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – at London's Westminster Abbey.

The wedding, pegged the greatest and grandest royal affair since Prince Charles and Princess Diana's 1981 nuptials, is the fairy-tale ending to a love story thrust into the spotlight last November when the couple first announced their engagement.

"I, William Arthur Philip Louis, take thee, Catherine Elizabeth, to my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse," William vowed. "For richer, for poorer. In sickness and in health. To love and to cherish, till death us do part."

With brother and best man Prince Harry, sporting the uniform of Captain of the Household Cavalry, by his side, William, 28, wearing the scarlet uniform of the Colonel of the Irish Guards, slipped a traditional Welsh gold wedding band on Middleton's finger, saying, "With this ring, I thee wed."

The couple also wrote their own prayer for the occasion. "God our Father, we thank you for our families; for the love that we share and for the joy of our marriage," they said. "In the busyness of each day keep our eyes fixed on what is real and important in life and help us to be generous with our time and love and energy. Strengthened by our union help us to serve and comfort those who suffer."

A Royal Affair

With rows of trees lining the aisle of Westminster Abbey, music selected by the couple performed by the London Chamber Orchestra and a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress – the best-kept secret of the event – on the bride, no detail was too small for Friday's ceremony.

Middleton, 29, arrived to the Abbey in burgundy-and-black-colored Rolls-Royce, not a carriage, opting for a "lower-key arrival," a palace source told PEOPLE in February.

Guests such as Elton John and Victoria and David Beckham, just a few of the A-listers among the 1,900 who received an invitation, sat in chairs faced inward toward the aisle as Middleton walked toward her prince during the hour-long ceremony.


Afterward, Queen Elizabeth was set to host a post-wedding breakfast of champagne and canapés at Buckingham Palace for 600 guests. At 7 p.m., Prince Charles will throw a dinner dance for about 300 guests in another one of the palace's state rooms.

Before the wedding, the bride spent her last night as a single woman in the Royal Suite of the Goring Hotel, a stone's throw from Buckingham Palace. William, meanwhile, stayed with his father and brother at the Clarence House.

Still, their true fairy-tale moment is yet to come: The couple are expected to arrive on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at 1:25 p.m. for a much-anticipated kiss – in the very same spot Prince Charles and Princess Diana famously kissed 30 years ago.

This isn’t the first time Gyllenhaal has shaved his head for a film — he did the same for 2005′s Jarhead — but considering we saw him earlier this month with all of his hair (not to mention a full mustache and beard), it certainly was a quick change. Well, that was fast.

Just a few hours after the producer of Gotti: Three Generations said that Lindsay Lohan was "no longer being considered" for a role in the film, he's changed his mind.

"She was definitely out as of earlier today, but she really wanted the part," Marc Fiore tells PEOPLE.

In fact, you could say Lohan made Fiore an offer he couldn't refuse.

"She not only is back in the movie, but she single-handedly put it all together," says the producer. "She called me personally and put her team on it and we came to an agreement."

He added that Lohan, 24, was "no nonsense," when it came to making the deal happen. "She played a real leadership role."

But Lohan will not play Victoria Gotti as had originally been reported. Instead, she will play Kim Gotti, the wife of John Gotti Jr., in the flick, which stars John Travolta.

Fiore calls the Kim character "a very important role" and says Lohan is "very excited about the part."

Fiore says Lohan is in for a two picture deal, which also includes his other mafia movie, Mob Street, in which she will play the wife of the lead character Bobby Bataglia.

Tim Robbins has suffered double heartache, as his mother Mary died on Sunday at age 78, just 12 days after his father Gil passed away at 80.

Husband and wife both died at their home in Esteban Cantu, Mexico. Mary Robbins died of a heart arrhythmia, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Gil died April 5 of prostate cancer, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Gil and Mary, who were married 59 years, had both been professional musicians in the 1950s and '60s – Gil having been a member of the folk band the Highwaymen.

Mary had once treated herself holistically to beat colon cancer, reports the Associated Press, which quoted her actor son Tim as saying she "had a calm and cheerful demeanor, a sharp wit, a gentle spirit and a generous and loving heart."

Of his father, Robbins told the L.A. Times: "He was very charming, open and funny. He had a real strong moral center; he spoke up for what he believed in."

AlNicolas Cage made a big scene in the Big Easy when he was arrested Saturday morning.

"He was running around and screaming in the street," a barman at Harry's Corner in New Orleans, tells PEOPLE.

The Academy Award-winning actor, 47, who is filming a movie in the area, was charged with domestic abuse and disturbing the peace after arguing with his wife, Alice Kim, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The couple were fighting over which house they were renting in the French Quarter, and Peter Bennett, a local street performer who lives near the property, tells PEOPLE he came home to two cop cars on each end of his block.

"Apparently he had mistaken the house of my neighbors for the other house up the block that he is actually renting," he says. "His wife was trying to persuade him from disturbing the elderly couple who do in fact live in that house."

Cage is actually renting the house three doors down, according to Bennett. When cops arrived, the barman says the actor started to get into the back passenger-side door of the police car.

"But the cop got out, walked around, and Cage ran a block south toward the river, where he tried to get into a cab," he says. "There was a woman outside with a baby in her arms shouting, 'Please don't hurt us.' "

Cage, who was arrested after a police officer ordered him out of the cab, seemed to be intoxicated, according to an inmate, who says he was in the holding area of the jail with the actor. "He was drunk," the inmate tells PEOPLE, adding that Cage spent the evening chatting with sheriff's deputies. "He wasn't in a cell. He was behind the counter with all the other officers."

No one answered the door of the Cage property on Saturday evening, while a rep for the actor had no comment.

After being bailed out by Dog the Bounty Hunter, Cage is due in court to face the charges on May 31.

Nicolas Cage received the help of an unlikely ally after his arrest in New Orleans this weekend – Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Reality star Duane 'Dog' Chapman posted the actor's $11,000 bond after he was charged with domestic abuse and disturbing the peace Saturday in the French Quarter.

"I am a truly dedicated fan of Mr. Cage and will not be granting any interviews about my client as I wish to respect his privacy," Chapman, 58, tells E! News in a statement.

"I performed my duties as a bail bondsman and not in connection with our show. This is what I do for a living. There are two sides of my job: I release my clients after they have been arrested; and pick them up if they don't show up in court. I do not believe the latter will be the case for Mr. Cage."

Cage, 47, is scheduled to appear in court May 31.

 A police firearm left unattended at a local business last week is the subject of an investigation.

Ian Naylor, deputy chief with the Amherst Police Department, confirmed the force is investigating an issue involving a firearm, however he wouldn't divulge anything further.
"Because it's an ongoing investigation, we can't provide any further information at this time," he said.
"We will get the investigation completed in a timely fashion."

Sources have told the Amherst Daily News that it was a member of the local Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment that left the firearm behind in the bathroom at the McDonald's on South Albion Street.
Naylor wouldn't confirm that it was an RCMP officer, nor make any comments regarding the subject.
Sgt. Brigdit Legere, provincial media relations officer for the RCMP, however, did.
"I can confirm that an internal investigation has been launched regarding the circumstances that resulted in a police firearm being recovered from the bathroom from an Amherst business," she said Thursday evening.

Danny Moore, owner of the restaurant, said he wasn't able to comment on the situation.

The sharks were thought to be a myth for many years, but as you can see, that's no myth. Club officials speculate that the bull sharks, some of which are estimated at up to 10 feet long, washed into the lake during a flood in the early 1990s.

The sharks are in a lake that borders the holes, so it's not like your ball has to jump a shark, to coin a phrase. Still, the club has embraced its fearsome guests, touting the sharks' presence and hosting a monthly "Shark Lake Challenge." The club's general manager also feeds the sharks chicken, which is good as long as they don't get a taste for golfer flesh.
So for those of you thinking that the worst thing possible on a golf course happened to Rory McIlroy on Sunday, guess again. He could've been eaten.

NEW YORK, N.Y. - A jailed former Mafia boss who once ordered a payback killing in the infamous "Donnie Brasco" case made gangland history Tuesday by becoming the highest-ranking member of the city's five Italian organized crime families to break their sacred vow of silence and testify against one of their own.

Joseph Massino took the witness stand at the Brooklyn trial of Vincent "Vinny Gorgeous" Basciano, who served as one of his captains in the Bonanno crime family. Prosecutors say that Massino secretly recorded Basciano admitting he ordered a hit on an associate who ran afoul of the secretive Bonannos.

"You will hear the defendant did not tolerate being disrespected or disobeyed and that the penalty for both was death," Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicole Argentieri said in opening statements.
Moments after being sworn in, Massino pointed across the courtroom and identified Basciano — "the guy sitting in the grey suit" — as the crime family's former acting boss. The defendant stared back at the government's star witness, steadily chewing on a piece of gum.

In clipped tones, Massino gave the anonymous jury a colorful tutorial on the Mafia.
By co-operating, he explained, he was violating a sacred oath he took during a 1977 induction ceremony to protect the secret society. It was understood, he said, that "once a bullet leaves that gun, you never talk about it."

He testified that when he took control of the family he gave strict orders to never utter his name — a precaution against FBI surveillance. Instead, his soldiers touched their ears to refer to him, earning him the nickname "The Ear."

Asked about his duties as boss, he replied, "Murder. ... Making captains. Breaking captains" — lingo for promoting and demoting capos. He said he also had to assess talent.
"It takes all kinds of meat to make a good sauce," said Massino, the one-time proprietor of a Queens restaurant called CasaBlanca. "Some people, they kill. Some people, they earn, they can't kill."
Massino, 68, broke ranks and began talking with investigators after his 2004 conviction for orchestrating a quarter-century's worth of murder, racketeering and other crimes as he rose through the ranks of the Bonannos. The bloodshed included the shotgun slayings of three rival captains and the execution of a mobster who vouched for FBI undercover Brasco in the 1980s. Brasco's story became a movie starring Johnny Depp and Al Pacino, "Donnie Basco".

While imprisoned together in 2005, the former Bonanno boss agreed to wear a wire and betray Basciano.
The understudy "told me that he killed him," Massino said in recounting a conversation about the 2004 slaying charged in the current case. "He said (the victim) was a scumbag, a rat, a troublemaker, a bad kid."

In his opening statement, defence attorney George Goltzer told jurors that Basciano took credit for the coldblooded murder to protect the real killer — a friend in the Bonannos who acted without proper permission — "from the wrath of Joseph Massino." The lawyer described Massino and other turncoats slated to testify for the government as deceitful opportunists.
"The United States government needs to make deals with the devil. ... You don't have to accept what they say," Goltzer said.

Prosecutors say Basciano, the one-time owner of the Hello Gorgeous beauty salon, rose to his leadership role after a series of Bonanno defections and successful prosecutions in the 2000s decimated its leadership.

The 50-year-old defendant, known for his explosive temper, could face the death penalty if convicted of racketeering, murder and other charges. He already is serving a life term for a conviction in a separate case in 2007.

Massino is serving two consecutive life terms for eight murders. He testified his co-operation spared his wife from prosecution, allowed her to keep their home and gave him a shot at a reduced sentence.
He said he hoped "one day maybe I'll see a little light at the end of the tunnel."

And what about Donnie Brasco?
Massino said he had never met the real-life undercover. Asked whether the movie was accurate, he started to move his hand in a dismissive way before the judge cut him off.
"Jurors, disregard this," the judge instructed while making the same motion.

Walking the red carpet at New York City's Museum of Modern Art this week, Michael Douglas was feeling grateful for all the well wishes he'd received from friends and fans as he battled cancer.

"I feel great!" the actor, 66, told PEOPLE at Tuesday night's event to celebrate Carnegie Hall’s 120th anniversary. "I feel a tremendous amount of support from so many people."

Absent from the event was his biggest supporter: wife Catherine Zeta-Jones. Hours later, it was revealed that she has quietly sought healing of her own. Her rep says the actress recently checked into a facility for a few days to treat her bipolar II disorder.

The revelation was surpsing to many, not least because the Oscar-winning actress and mom-of-two stayed steadfastly positive in public while sticking by Douglas's side through a grueling six-month battle with cancer.

But behind the scenes, those close to the actress say she felt the strain. Her rep acknowledged the timing of Zeta-Jones, 41, seeking treatment was in part connected to "the stress of the past year."

Adds a friend, "Catherine has had to deal with Michael's illness, and that's been hard."

A Famous Example

In sharing her experience, the actress put a very public face on a mental illness experienced by millions. The key indicator of bipolar II, experts say, is a cycle of high and low moods, often with episodes of depression.

Zeta-Jones herself has described her bouts with melancholy, telling The Sunday Times in the U.K. that "I'm lucky. … But that's not to say I don't get down on myself. I try and stay positive, being negative isn't good for my personality. I don't just bring myself down, I bring everyone around me down. It's like a dark cloud, 'Uh oh, here we go', and I have to snap out of it."

Dr. David Miklowitz, professor of psychiatry at UCLA School of Medicine, says stress "definitely can play a role" in triggering depression or what doctors call hypomania, short periods of mild manias.

“Certain life events, changes, particularly those that affect the sleep cycle, can trigger symptoms," says Miklowitz. "An event like a loss experience or family conflict can be a cause or a trigger of bipolar episodes."

As for being called a "diva," she says, "I kind of like it. We've kind of owned it now. But I certainly don't like and I've never been a person who has what they call 'diva behavior,' which is something they tried to pin on me for a long time."

Flying saucer sightings? Reports of three-foot-tall aliens? Secret memos about suspicious objects recovered near Roswell, N.M.?

They're all included in the thousands of declassified government documents posted to the FBI's new online "Vault."
Earlier this month, the FBI announced its revamped online reading room that contains more than 2,000 government files. While the documents had been previously available to the public, not all had been digitized and easily searchable online.
Among the so-called "X-files" are once-classified reports dating back to the 1940s and 1950s detailing Air Force investigations into "flying discs" and the "bodies of human shape" discovered inside them.
In one report from March 1950, Guy Hottel, a special agent with the FBI, said he received information from an Air Force investigator about flying saucers found in New Mexico.
"They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50-feet in diameter," he wrote. "Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only 3 feet tall, dressed in a metallic cloth of a very fine texture. Each body was bandaged in a manner very similar to the blackout suits used by speed flyers and test pilots."

The informant, whose name is redacted in the file, said he thought the saucer was spotted in New Mexico because a high-powered government radar in the area interfered with the saucer's controlling mechanism.

At least one document will disappoint those who believe a spaceship landed at Roswell, N.M., probably the most famous UFO conspiracy theory.
The document from 1947, with the word "Roswell" handwritten across the top, says that a "flying disc" was recovered near Roswell, N.M.
"The disc is hexagonal in shape and was suspended from a balloon by cable," the document said. "The object found resembles a high-altitude weather balloon with a radar reflector."
Other reports once marked "restricted" and "confidential" detail sightings of mysterious flashing lights and other "unidentified aerial objects."

"[The First Lady] asked me to sing for the troops. That's a huge honor for me," Simpson tells Us. "Just to be there and show my support and say thank you."
Simpson's performance -- happening during the Rockies vs. Mets baseball game at 7:50 p.m. (EST) -- is just one event taking place as part of Mrs. Obama and Dr. Jill Biden's initiative to honor America's service members.

During the national two-day tour, the women will travel to Camp Lejeune, N.C., San Antonio, Texas, Denver and Columbus, Ohio to "highlight the work of Americans who have answered the call to serve our military families to showcase ways all Americans can serve them, from teachers and business leaders, to neighbors and volunteers," according to a statement.

This month's Elle is all about the glorious physique and mind that belongs to Robert Pattinson. With his new movie, Water for Elephants, due out in theaters soon, R-Patz is getting a lot of non-Twilight attention, which he seems to be enjoying. But one thing he doesn't love so much about the fame-game is his constant run-ins with the paparazzi. In his interview with the mag, he reveals that he has a specific dream he hopes to fulfill once his days as a vampire heartthrob are over. He explains:

"You know, when the whole thing dries up and there's hardly any paparazzi around–I don't know, in 15 years or something–I like the idea of just one paparazzo coming out and trying to get a picture, and I just beat the s**t out of him. I mean–out of nowhere–when my picture's not even worth…and I've spent all my money, so you can't sue me!"

Such violence! Is that really necessary? Sure, they are annoying and they seem to share some key characteristics with fire ants, but there is no need to pummel them!

Still, it's nice to hear you like to plan ahead! We're very interested to see what you will do once this Twilight-craze has come and gone.

On Tuesday, the actress reported that Little Angel "got out of my house somehow and is LOST."

Asking her 53,000 Twitter followers for help, she added, "If anyone finds her I BEG you to please contact me thru Twitter," even offering a reward.

Bynes, who frequently posted pictures of her puppy on Twitter, shared a recent one of the caramel-coated Pom. Later that day, Bynes followed up to say that "Little Angel is in heaven now. RIP I love you."

Little Angel was just 4 months old.

Is Angelina Jolie sending a message in ink?

During a U.N. goodwill trip to the Tunisia-Libya border this week, Jolie, 35, was photographed showing a tattoo of a new set of map coordinates on her arm, just underneath tattoos of coordinates of the birthplaces of her six children with Brad Pitt, 47.

First noticed by Wonderwall, the numbers are hard to make out. One possibility is they relate to the North African region Jolie is visiting.

But a source close to Jolie warns not to read too much into her skin art, telling PEOPLE that all adoption speculation is false.

Jolie adopted Maddox, 9, from Cambodia, Pax, 7, from Vietnam and Zahara, 6, from Ethiopia. Shiloh, 4, was born in Namibia and 2-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox were born in France.

Less than a month after announcing his split with girlfriend of four years Jessica Biel, Justin Timberlake stepped out with another young Hollywood beauty, Olivia Wilde.

The Now costars hit The Roxbury in Hollywood Saturday night, and snuggled together in the VIP section until 1 a.m., when Timberlake, 30, requested they move to the patio so he could listen to hip hop.

Wilde, 27, who in early March filed for divorce from her husband of eight years, Italian Prince Tao Ruspoli, has recently been spotted with Ryan Gosling. But on Saturday, she seemed perfectly in sync with Timberlake.

The duo arrived at the club together, both were wearing white T-shirts and jeans, and both drank vodka. They also left together at 3 a.m.

Some sources say they looked like they were on a date. But another says that "they happened to meet each other there. They weren't on a date. They've been friends since they worked together on Alpha Dog. Nothing's going on. They're just friends."

When Nashville's finest take over Sin City for the Academy of Country Music Awards, it's a good thing that what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas.

The awards, which went to such to country crooners as Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift, were only one highlight of Sunday night's show. If you missed any of the cowboy hat-happy action, PEOPLE.com breaks down some of the show's more memorable moments. Among them:

• Blake Shelton Says the Funniest Things
Country stars must have been shaking in their boots when host Shelton started unleashing his humor on his peers. Shelton's targets included Carrie Underwood, Swift, Miley Cyrus and LeAnn Rimes.

"Eric Church has a big hit this year with 'Smoke a Little Smoke,' Shelton, 34, told the audience. His punch line? "I heard it was about Miley Cyrus."

His lighthearted quips broke the ground rule that Shelton's co-host, Reba McEntire, 56, laid down from the get-go of the ceremony: "Blake and I have decided there will be no Charlie Sheen jokes and no Lindsay Lohan jokes and no jokes about celebrity scandals," she said with a laugh, adding, "so goodnight, everybody."

• Entertainer of the Year
Swift lived up to the title she earned later in the show with a foot-tapping take on her song "Mean." She started off singing on a porch backdrop, which was later traded for a skyline background to match the lyrics, "Someday I'll be living in a big old city/And all you're ever gonna be is mean."

"For me, with the entertainer of the year award, I see the face of Shania [Twain] and Garth [Brooks] and my heroes," she told PEOPLE after snagging the honor. "To be among them – it just means so much."

• Rob and Reese Go Country
You've seen Robert Pattinson rock fangs – but who knew Twilight's British hunk had a little Southern twang? Joined by his Water for Elephants costar (and recent bride) Reese Witherspoon, Pattinson spilled the details about his drink of choice when they were filming in Tennessee.

"I like drinking a lot of moonshine," he said.

• Ideal Duet
What would Simon Cowell say? American Idol judge Steven Tyler teamed up with season-four winner Carrie Underwood for a mashup of her hit "Undo It" and Aerosmith jam "Walk This Way."

The performance turned intimate when Tyler went in for a smooch at the cue of the lyrics. It was all in good, theatrical fun, though – the only thing these stars did with their mouths was sing.

• Big Stars, Big Hearts
A group of young adults with developmental disabilities from the academy's Lifting Lives music camp joined country star Darius Rucker onstage to perform a song straight from the heart – to the letter.

The song, titled "Music From the Heart," brought the audience to their feet, including a teary-eyed Underwood and a visibly moved Swift.

Are Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz reconciling – or just very amicably split?

Dressed causally as they soaked up some southern California sunshine – with Wentz carrying 2-year-old Bronx on one hip – the young family stopped by the Beverly Glen Mall in Los Angeles Thursday and picked up some coffee and iced tea at a Starbucks.

"Ashlee and Pete held hands, and Pete especially looked very happy," an onlooker says. "While waiting for their drinks, Pete had his arm around Ashlee and they definitely looked like a couple again."

Added the onlooker: "Ashlee kept smiling and lovingly leaned on Pete."

Though they look friendlier than ever, this isn't their first post-split outing. They've continued to hang out as a family, even after Simpson filed for divorce in February.

All along, sources have told PEOPLE the couple's breakup is friendly, and that being good parents to son Bronx is their priority.

"They're both focused on making this transition as easy as possible for him," a source told PEOPLE recently.

Added a source close to the couple, "It's very amicable. They're on very friendly terms and speaking – it's fine."

Reps for the two had no comment.

But, despite their upbeat demeanor, another source tells PEOPLE that their outing Thursday doesn't mean the two are reconciling."This is not a sign that they are getting back together," the source says. "They both care about each other tremendously. They both love Bronx very much, and Ashlee has always called Pete her best friend. They are in the middle of still trying to figure this out."
