Ever wonder why Pat Sajak has unending enthusiasm toward the purchase of a vowel?

Turns out, margaritas have something to do with it.

The host of the long-running game show Wheel of Fortune says that back in the day, he and Vanna White occasionally had a drink – or six – while working on the show.

When asked by Dan Le Batard of Dan Le Batard Is Highly Questionable, which airs on ESPN 2, if he ever hosted the show while intoxicated, Sajak, 65, came clean.

"Yes," the TV veteran admitted with a laugh. "When I first started and was much younger and could tolerate those things. We had a different show then."

With a two-and-a-half hour dinner break during the game show's early format, Sajak and White would drop by Los Arcos, a Mexican joint in Burbank, for margaritas.

"Vanna and I would ... have two or three or six and then come and do the last shows and have trouble recognizing the alphabet," he says. "I had a great time. I have no idea if the shows were any good, but no one said anything, so I guess I did okay."

Though he insists he no longer imbibes while at work, Sajak has a feeling those old shows would be fun to watch. "They're really great tapes to get a hold of," he says.

We'll bring the chips and salsa when you find 'em, Pat!

Have Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama split?

Although the kissy couple never confirmed their relationship in the first place, Lovato, 19, went from Tweeting her excitement about People's Choice Awards rehearsals to posting about staying independent from the opposite sex.

"A wise girl kisses but doesn't love, listens but doesn't believe, and leaves before she is left," the former Disney starlet, quoting Marilyn Monroe, re-Tweeted one of her followers early Tuesday morning.

Just minutes after the Tweet that appeared to come out of nowhere, Lovato then posted, "The smartest thing a woman can ever learn, is to never need a man."
The "Skyscraper" singer and former That '70s Show actor, 31, were reportedly spotted out together just two nights ago, but suddenly Lovato began Tweeting about "loyalty" and thanking her "friends who stand by my side."

A rep for Lovato had no comment, while Valderrama's rep did not immediately return requests.

The show must go on – and, apparently, the ring must come off.

And, as he was set to perform on an U.S. college tour, Russell Brand – who in December filed for divorce from his wife of 14 months, Katy Perry – made a video display of removing his wedding band.

"I'm going to place this somewhere very, very safe for the next week," says the actor-comedian, 36, as he holds up his hand in front of the camera and slips off the ring sometime in November.

Making no reference to his marriage, Brand does admit on camera that he knows very little about the American college scene – and what he has learned about from fraternities he got from Animal House.

All seemed well at home that day, though, as Perry Tweeted her support: "My fowl (sic) mouthed Hubby @rustyrockets is playing a few mid-west/east-coast shows starting tonight onwards! SUPPORT!"

Brand also jokes about looking forward to finding out what goes on in sororities.

"I don't know what a sorority is, except for what I have seen on Nudevista [X-rated website] – that they are sort of sex clubs for women," he says.

Since the divorce announcement, Perry, 27, Tweeted that fan support has made her heart happy again. She also said she's canceling her previously scheduled appearance at this Wednesday's People's Choice Awards.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are now Mom and Dad!

The singer, whose pregnancy was closely watched and the subject of various rumors, gave birth to a baby girl in New York on Saturday, according to her hometown paper. Mom and baby are doing fine, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Sources tell E! News the little girl's name is Blue Ivy Carter.

Apparently, she's a looker. "The most beautiful girl in the world," Beyoncé's sister, Solange Knowles, Tweeted Sunday morning.

Friends of the superstar couple also used Twitter to offer public messages of congratulations:

"Welcome to the world princess Carter!" Rihanna Tweeted Saturday night. "Love Aunty Rih."

"Welcome to the world Blue!" Gwyneth Paltrow wrote on her Twitter page Sunday morning. "We love you already."

Russell Simmons also acknowledged the new parents on Twitter: "congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z," he said.

Beyoncé, 30, checked into Lenox Hill Hospital on New York's Upper East Side on Friday, more than a month before her previously stated due date in February.

On Thursday, the singer was photographed out in the city covering her baby bump with a black blazer and a flowing scarf.

Despite buzz that the singer had given birth to a baby girl over New Year's weekend, Jay-Z and an "enormously pregnant" Beyoncé were spotted enjoying a dinner on Dec. 31 at Buttermilk Channel in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The first-time mom announced she was expecting at the MTV Video Music Awards in August.

Reps for the couple did not respond to requests for comment

Jessica Biel may have said only last year, "I was never one of those girls who dreamt of my wedding and my Prince Charming," but it looks like she's about to have both.

Biel and Justin Timberlake are engaged to be married, a source tells PEOPLE.

The big moment happened while the on-again couple were in Big Sky Country, on their annual vacation to Montana, according to the source, who reveals Justin proposed with a "custom-designed" ring.

Timberlake, who turns 31 later this month, and Biel, 29, celebrated the happy news with friends.

Only a few weeks ago, unconfirmed reports said the longtime romantic couple were altar-bound, but the rumors proved premature.

Last year, the couple spent time apart for several months after being together for four years, since May. They made their split official in March 2011.

Still, over that summer, Timberlake told Vanity Fair about Biel, saying, "She is the single-handedly most significant person in my life. In my 30 years, she is the most special person, okay? ... I don't want to say much more, because I have to protect things that are dear to me – for instance, her."

By the following September, the two were back on and publicly affectionate together again.

When they were spotted having brunch last fall in a Colorado mountaintop bar, an onlooker told PEOPLE, "There was plenty of P.D.A., and they seemed happy." Other sightings soon followed in Las Vegas, in New York and in Hollywood.
